The collection contains GENTLE MONSTER’s perspective towards the way our society measures emotions in the current digital age. We live in a society where the moderation of emotions is regarded as a virtue. Acknowledging the fact that our emotional universe is finite in physical space, GENTLE MONSTER aims to liberate these fragments of restrained emotions through the act of “SWIPE” in the digital world. “SWIPE” in this collection is metaphorically used as a tool for emotional expression, going beyond an act of moving across a digital device to activate a certain function. During MONCLER GENIUS-GENTLE MONSTER SHOW, the SWING installation will “SWIPE” across digital and physical world to activate an emotional provocation within ourselves.

The Gentle Monster team worked with sound and media artist groups, GRAYCODE (TAEBOK CHO) and jiiiiin (JINHEE JUNG), to create an immersive digital experience. .

이번 컬렉션은 모든 것이 디지털화된 세상에서 동시대인들이 감정을 어떤 방식으로 받아들이는지에 젠틀몬스터만의 고찰을 그대로 담아낸다. 젠틀몬스터는 언제나 감정을 절제하는 것이 미덕인 사회 속에서 고정된 틀 속에 갇혀 버린 우리의 감정에 주목한다. 그리고 디지털 세상의 가장 큰 요소인 “SWIPE” 모션을 통해 감정을 통제하던 요소들을 디지털 상에서 해체해보고자 한다. 이번 컬렉션에서 보여주는 “SWIPE” 모션은 감정 표현에 대한 은유를 담아내는 동시에, 실제 제품의 템플에 디지털화된 요소으로써 차용되었다. 몽클레르 지니어스-젠틀몬스터 쇼에서 선보이는 “스윙” 인스톨레이션은 현실과 디지털 세계 사이를 오가는 모션을 표현하며, 보는 이에게 새로운 감정적인 자극을 선사한다.

또한 이번 쇼에서 선보이는 미디어, 사운드 작업은 아티스트 그룹으로 활동 중인 GRAYCODE(조태복), jiiiiin(정진희)의 협업으로 완성되어, 단순한 패션쇼를 넘어 수준 높은 미디어 아트로서 새로운 비전을 제시한다.
